Customer Service Assistants
Customer Service Assistants are in attendance at most major train stations during the day. They provide customer service, operational support and often travel on trains from station to station. Their responsibilities include assisting people with special needs utilise train services and facilities, assisting all customers with general enquiries and monitoring the trains and stations for cleanliness and safety. They are authorised to issue infringements should it be necessary.
Transperth inspectors travel on the bus and ferry network to:
- Provide passenger assistance.
- Ensure that high standards of service are provided to passengers.
- Monitor that passengers comply with ticketing requirements.
All inspectors are empowered under the PTA Act and Regulations 2003 to issue infringements for fare evasion or any other actions which contravene the regulations. This includes: smoking on platforms, consuming food and drink and any inappropriate behaviour.
Passenger Ticketing Assistants
Passenger Ticketing Assistants are in attendance at most major train stations during the day and will generally be located in the proximity of fare gates and ticketing equipment. Their responsibilities include checking passenger tickets, assisting people with special needs utilise train services and facilities and assisting all customers with general enquiries. They are authorised to issue infringements should it be necessary.
Transit Officers are specially trained to deal with safety, security and ticketing issues, and also provide a customer contact point for any passenger queries or assistance.
Transit Officers have the powers of arrest and can take the full details of offenders and place them into custody. They can search offenders in custody and have the power to use any force that is reasonably necessary to remove an offender who has been warned but has not complied with a direction.
