Route 79 - new service to QEII and UWA

Effective: Monday 28 July 2008

A new bus service, route 79 will come into operation on Monday 28 July 2008 to transport passengers to and from Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre (QEII), via the University of Western Australia (UWA).

The introduction of route 79 further enhances services for passengers travelling to and from QEII or UWA. Please refer to Western 45 timetable for specific operating hours.

This new service will operate Monday to Friday all year round, inclusive of university holidays, providing a 15 minute peak service and 30 minutes off-peak service.

Travelling to university?

The introduction of route 79 means you can get to university faster and with more connecting options. Route 79 operates from the Wellington St Bus Station and Esplanade Busport via Mounts Bay Rd to UWA.
 
Students travelling from UWA to Perth can board route 79 from Mounts Bay Rd opposite the UWA campus.

Not only can you use route 79 to get to your lectures and tutorials on time, but you can also board routes 23, 78, 102 and 107 to transport you between Perth and the UWA campus or route 97 between Subiaco Station and UWA.

Visiting QEII?

Whether you are travelling to QEII for medical, visiting or work purposes, route 79 will ensure you get there in a timely and comfortable manner.
 
Dropping you off right outside QEII, route 79 provides you with a quick and accessible service from Perth. Passengers can also utilise routes 24, 25 and 103 from St Georges Tce to QEII.

Passengers boarding route 79 from the terminus at QEII should always board at stop number 11504 on Hospital Ave on the opposite side to QEII.

Travelling from the Fremantle or Midland Line?

If you are travelling to QEII or UWA from the Fremantle or Midland Lines, you can make a quick and seamless transfer at Subiaco Station from the train onto route 97. Route 97 operates on a 15 minute frequency on weekdays and travels from Subiaco Station to UWA via QEII, meaning you will never have long to wait for your connecting service.
