Selecting and purchasing your SmartRider
Selecting the right SmartRider card is easy. All you need to know is whether you are eligible for a concession fare. An initial SmartRider card purchase fee of $5 for concession users and $10 for standard users applies. The card purchase fee covers the cost of the card and allows you to travel into debit on the card should your journey fare exceed your card balance.
Standard SmartRider
A passenger who is not eligible for a concession fare should purchase a Standard SmartRider.
Concession SmartRider
A concession SmartRider card (does not include Student, Tertiary and Seniors SmartRider) can be obtained by anyone who holds a valid concession entitlement.
An Application for Concession SmartRider form must be completed in person at any Transperth InfoCentre or at authorised SmartRider Retail Sales Outlets. The form requires the following information to be supplied:
- Full name
- Address
- Date of birth
- Your SmartRider card number
- SmartRider password
- Concession type
- Concession authority number
- Concession expiry date
Original documentation confirming your concession entitlement, such as a Health Care card, will need to be presented at the time of applying for a Concession SmartRider.
Concession SmartRider users should note that their SmartRiders are automatically registered.
Card refunds
SmartRider card fee or any added value are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another person's SmartRider.
