What to do if you lose your SmartRider
The process for obtaining a replacement SmartRider depends on whether you are entitled to a concession SmartRider. Please view the relevant information below for how you can obtain a replacement SmartRider, register it and transfer any stored funds onto your new card.

Standard
To obtain a replacement Standard SmartRider card, passengers must follow these simple steps:
- Hot- list your card
If your SmartRider is registered, you must hot-list it by calling the Transperth InfoLine on 13 62 13 (TTY: 9428 1999, TIS: 13 14 50) or visit a Transperth InfoCentre - this will safely store any funds on your lost SmartRider until you are ready to transfer the money onto your new SmartRider card.
- Purchase a new card
You must purchase a new SmartRider card from an InfoCentre or Retail Sales Outlet (RSO). This will cost you $10 for the card itself and a minimum of $10 credit to be placed on the card at time of purchase.
- Transfer stored funds
If you purchase your SmartRider at an InfoCentre you can transfer the balance from your hot-listed card onto your new card, otherwise you will need to:
Allow 24 hours for your new SmartRider card to be processed and then contact the Transperth InfoLine on 13 62 13 (TTY: 9428 1999, TIS: 13 14 50) to advise that you wish to have your card balance from your hot-listed card transferred to your new SmartRider.
- Register your SmartRider (optional)
A Standard SmartRider can be registered by calling the Transperth InfoLine on 13 62 13 (TTY: 9428 1999, TIS: 13 14 50) or by completing a SmartRider Registration form at any Transperth InfoCentre or at any RSO. Click here to download a SmartRider Registration form.

Concession (including Aged and Disability Support Pension cardholders)
To obtain a replacement Concession SmartRider card, passengers must follow these simple steps:
- Hot- list your card
You must hot-list your SmartRider by calling the Transperth InfoLine on 13 62 13 (TTY: 9428 1999, TIS: 13 14 50) or visit a Transperth InfoCentre - this will safely store any funds on your lost SmartRider until you are ready to transfer the money onto your new SmartRider card.
- Purchase a new card
You must purchase a new Concession SmartRider card from an InfoCentre or Retail Sales Outlet by completing an Application for Concession SmartRider (click here to download). Original documentation confirming your concession entitlement, such as a Health Care card, will need to be presented at the time of applying for a Concession SmartRider.
This will cost you $5 for the card itself and a minimum of $10 credit to be placed on the card at time of purchase.
- Transfer stored funds
If you purchase your SmartRider at an InfoCentre you can transfer the balance from your hot-listed card onto your new card, otherwise you will need to:
Allow 24 hours for your new SmartRider card to be processed and then contact the Transperth InfoLine on 13 62 13 (TTY: 9428 1999, TIS: 13 14 50) to advise that you wish to have your card balance from your hot-listed card transferred to your new SmartRider.
- Register your SmartRider
Concession SmartRider cards are automatically registered when the concession application is processed.

Seniors
To obtain a replacement Seniors SmartRider card, passengers must follow these simple steps:
- Hot- list your card
You must hot-list your SmartRider by calling the Transperth InfoLine on 13 62 13 (TTY: 9428 1999, TIS: 13 14 50) or visit a Transperth InfoCentre - this will safely store any funds on your lost SmartRider until you are ready to transfer the money onto your new SmartRider card.
- Obtain a new card
There are two ways to obatin your new Seniors SmartRider card;
i) Complete a Seniors Card Application Form to obtain a replacement Seniors SmartRider (available from WA Seniors Card Centre or online at www.seniorscard.wa.gov.au). Alternatively, you can call the Seniors Card Hotline on metro: (08) 6217 8855 or Country Callers on: 1800 671 233 (toll free) between 9.00am and 3.00pm weekdays. Wait approximately 10 days for the application form to be processed and a new Seniors SmartRider to be issued.
ii) Alternatively, attend in person at WA Seniors Card Centre (Level 1, Albert Facey House, 469 Wellington Street, Perth) and obtain your new Seniors SmartRider. This replacement Seniors SmartRider will not have value on it until the balance of your lost Seniors SmartRider is automatically transferred within 24 hours. If you wish to use your new Seniors SmartRider for paid travel prior to the balance being automatically transferred from your lost SmartRider, you must add a minimum of $10 value to it before you can use it. This can be done at an InfoCentre or Retail Sales Outlet.
- Transfer stored funds
The value on your old Seniors SmartRider will be automatically transferred to your new card.
- Register your SmartRider
Seniors SmartRider cards are automatically registered when the application is processed.
The password is automatically set as the date of birth of the cardholder. If you wish to change your password from your date of birth, please call the InfoLine on 13 62 13 (TTY: 9428 1999, TIS: 13 14 50) to record your new password.

Veterans
To obtain a replacement Veteran SmartRider card, passengers must follow these simple steps:
- Hot- list your card
You must hot-list your SmartRider by calling the Transperth InfoLine on 13 62 13 (TTY: 9428 1999, TIS: 13 14 50) or visit a Transperth InfoCentre - this will safely store any funds on your lost SmartRider until you are ready to transfer the money onto your new SmartRider card.
- Obtain a new card
Replacement Veterans SmartRiders are free. There are two ways to obtain a replacement SmartRider:
i) You can send a completed Application for a Veterans SmartRider form with two current passport sized photos to:

Your personalised Veterans SmartRider card will be returned to you by mail.
ii) You can apply in person at the Esplanade Busport Transperth Information Office (TIO) on Mounts Bay Rd, Perth. Please bring identification to verify your entitlement. While attending the Esplanade Busport TIO your photo will be taken and your Veterans SmartRider card issued immediately.
- Transfer stored funds
If you purchase your SmartRider at an InfoCentre you can transfer the balance from your hot-listed card onto your new card, otherwise you will need to:
Allow 24 hours for your new SmartRider card to be processed and then contact the Transperth InfoLine on 13 62 13 (TTY: 9428 1999, TIS: 13 14 50) to advise that you wish to have your card balance from your hot-listed card transferred to your new SmartRider.
- Register your SmartRider
Veteran SmartRider cards are automatically registered when the concession application is processed.

Student (Primary)
To obtain a replacement Student SmartRider card, primary students must follow these simple steps:
- Hot- list your card
You must hot-list your SmartRider by calling the Transperth InfoLine on 13 62 13 (TTY: 9428 1999, TIS: 13 14 50) or visit a Transperth InfoCentre - this will safely store any funds on your lost SmartRider until you are ready to transfer the money onto your new SmartRider card.
- Purchase a new card
Complete a Replacement Student SmartRider form, have it authorised by your school administration and send it to Monitor WA. A fee of $5 will apply. This payment must be made by mailing a $5 cheque or money order payable to ‘Monitor WA’ along with the completed form to: Monitor WA – SmartRider PO Box 10 Westminster WA 6061

- When ordering replacement Student SmartRider cards during school holidays, students must still complete an application form and mail it to Monitor WA. Application forms without school stamps will be accepted during school holiday periods and SmartRider cards will be sent to the address provided.
- Funds transferred from your hot-listed SmartRider will not appear on your new SmartRider until you next tag on.
Student (Secondary)
Secondary students must obtain their replacement Student SmartRider card in the same way that they applied for their original SmartRider. This depends on whether or not their school is a participating school. To check whether their school is a participating or non-participating school, students will need to contact their school administration.
Participating school
To obtain a replacement Student SmartRider card if your school is a participating school, students must follow these simple steps:
- Hot- list your card
You must hot-list your SmartRider by calling the Transperth InfoLine on 13 62 13 (TTY: 9428 1999, TIS: 13 14 50) or visit a Transperth InfoCentre - this will safely store any funds on your lost SmartRider until you are ready to transfer the money onto your new SmartRider card.
- Purchase a new card
Request your school to order you a new Student SmartRider. A minimum fee of $5 applies depending on whether the card has to be personalised for school use (i.e. addition of a student photo, school name and logo or library barcode) - please check with your school administration how best to make this payment.
The replacement student SmartRider will be sent to the student’s school and passed on to the student.
- Transfer stored funds
The value on your old Student SmartRider will be automatically transferred to your new card.
- Register your SmartRider
Student SmartRider cards are automatically registered when the application is processed.
The password is automatically set as the date of birth of the cardholder. If you wish to change your password from your date of birth, please call the InfoLine on 13 62 13 (TTY: 9428 1999, TIS: 13 14 50) to record your new password.

If a student’s school is involved in the online Student SmartRider program and they ordered their SmartRider through this method, students must follow these simple steps:
- Hot- list your card
You must hot-list your SmartRider by calling the Transperth InfoLine on 13 62 13 (TTY: 9428 1999, TIS: 13 14 50) or visit a Transperth InfoCentre - this will safely store any funds on your lost SmartRider until you are ready to transfer the money onto your new SmartRider card.
- Purchase a new card
Visit www.idcards.monitorwa.com.au and follow the prompts to request a replacement SmartRider. A fee of $5 will apply and must be paid for online via credit card.
The replacement SmartRider card will be produced and sent directly to the school, the school will check the card holder is still a current student and provide the student with their SmartRider card.

The value on your old Student SmartRider will be automatically transferred to your new card.
- Register your SmartRider
Student SmartRider cards are automatically registered when the application is processed.

Student (Tertiary)
The process for obtaining a replacement Tertiary SmartRider will depend on if you attend a participating or non-participating institution. Currently, Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University and the University of Western Australia are participating institutions.
Edith Cowan University (ECU)
- Hot- list your card
You must hot-list your SmartRider by calling the Transperth InfoLine on 13 62 13 (TTY: 9428 1999, TIS: 13 14 50) or visit a Transperth InfoCentre - this will safely store any funds on your lost SmartRider until you are ready to transfer the money onto your new SmartRider card.
- Purchase a new card
Students must obtain their new Student SmartRider card at MultiMedia Resources which is located adjacent to the Loans/Enquiries counter at each campus library. If you wish to use the card for Transperth travel you need to first announce your details at: University ID Card: Transperth Consent Declaration Webpage.
This will cost you $5 for the card itself and a minimum of $10 must be credited to the card to pay for Transperth fares.
- Transfer stored funds
Allow 24 hours for your new SmartRider card to be processed after which the balance will be automatically transferred.
- Register your SmartRider
Tertiary SmartRider cards are automatically registered when the concession application is processed.

Murdoch University
- Hot- list your card

Full-time Murdoch University students can only purchase their Tertiary SmartRider from the Murdoch Student Guild Shop. You will be required to present proof that you are a full-time student studying at Murdoch University at the time of purchase.
This will cost you $5 for the card itself and a minimum of $10 credit to be placed on the card at time of purchase.

Regional
Students attending non-participating institutions in the regional areas must complete a Regional Application for Tertiary SmartRider form (click here to download) and post this form together with a $5 cheque or money order made payable to Monitor WA to:
