How to get home after midnight on weekends.

Free late-night trains

If you are staying out late on a Friday or Saturday night, you can get home safely with our free late-night trains.

They run on all train lines* on Friday and Saturday nights (technically Saturday and Sunday mornings) and the best part is if you catch any train between 12am and 3am on the weekend, they’re free!

Plan your journey or check the timetable for the full list of departure times, however the free late-night trains depart at the following times on Friday and Saturday:

Joondalup Line

  • Departs Elizabeth Quay Station at 12.09am, 1.09am and 1.49am
  • Departs Butler Station at 12.33am and 1.13am.

Mandurah line

  • Departs Perth Underground Station at 12.15am, 1.15am and 2.15am
  • Departs Mandurah Station at 12.19am and 12.59am.

Midland Line

  • Departs Perth Station at 12.00am, 1.00am and 2.15am
  • Departs Midland Station at 12.01am, 12.31am and 1.31am.

Fremantle Line

  • Departs Perth Station at 12.00am, 1.00am and 2.15am
  • Departs Fremantle at 12.25am, 12.55am, 1.35am (on Fridays), 1.40am (on Saturdays) and 2.50am.

Armadale Line

  • Departs Perth Station at 12.02am, 1.02am and 2.15am
  • Departs Armadale Station at 12.16am, 12.46am and 1.46am.

Thornlie Line

  • Departing Thornlie Station at 12.17am.

*Please note, the last train to Thornlie departs Perth Station at 11.47pm on Friday nights and Saturday nights. These services are not free so you’ll need to buy a ticket or tag on with your SmartRider. If you’re leaving the city after midnight, you’ll need to book a taxi or organise a lift home from Cannington Station.
