Bicycles on trains

Transperth welcomes bicycles on our trains, because we recognise the contribution cyclists make towards a cleaner and healthier community and environment. So, with a few simple rules, travelling the trains with your bike is easy.

Consider the Lock 'n' Leave: Transperth provides free bike lockers and u-rails at all suburban train stations. Bike lockers at train stations are constructed to Australian Roads part 14 design guidelines.

Observe on-board etiquette: Please don't block entrances with your bike, or leave it where it can fall or be knocked over.

Observe the peak flow and counterflow conditions as outlined in the table below. Please refer to your train timetable for specific trips when bikes are not permitted on train services.

Chainless unicycles are accepted on all Transperth train services, space permitting. Chainless unicycles must be kept out of the aisles and not take up a seat that another passenger may use.

To Perth	Trips departing Armadale between 6.56am and 8.11am inclusive.	Bikes are NOT permitted on services during this travelling period. Bikes are permitted to board trains travelling away from Perth at Cannington Station from 5.30pm onwards.
From Perth	Trips departing Perth between 4.32pm and 6.17pm inclusive.
	Thornlie Line
To Perth	Trips departing Thornlie between 7.04am and 8.19am inclusive.	Bikes are NOT permitted on services during this travelling period. Bikes are permitted to board trains travelling away from Perth at Cannington Station from 5.30pm onwards.
From Perth	Trips departing Perth between 4.35pm and 6.05pm inclusive.
	Fremantle Line
To Perth	Trips departing Fremantle between 7.01am and 8.47am inclusive.	Bikes are NOT permitted on services during this travelling period.
From Perth	Trips departing Perth between 4.32pm and 6.12pm inclusive.
	Joondalup Line
To Perth	Trips departing Clarkson between 6.31am and 8.33am inclusive.  Trips departing Joondalup between 6.17am and 6.27am inclusive. Trips departing Whitfords between 7.49am and 8.53am inclusive.	Bikes are NOT permitted on services during this travelling period. Bikes are only permitted in Perth Underground Station during off-peak travelling periods. Passengers must use lifts provided, not escalators.
From Perth	Trips departing Perth between 3.59pm and 6.24pm inclusive.
	Mandurah Line
To Perth	Trips departing Mandurah between 6.21am and 8.13am inclusive. Trips departing Cockburn Central between 6.42am and 8.52am inclusive.	Bikes are NOT permitted on services during this travelling period. Bikes are only permitted in Perth Underground Station during off-peak travelling periods. Passengers must use lifts provided, not escalators.
From Perth	Trips departing Perth between 4.05pm and 6.15pm inclusive.
	Midland Line
To Perth	Trips departing Midland between 6.55am and 8.21am inclusive.	Bikes are NOT permitted on services during this travelling period.
From Perth	Trips departing Perth between 4.35pm and 6.15pm inclusive.

Please note: Infringements apply if cyclists travel on trains outside the nominated permitted times and directions.

NOTE: Bicycles are only permitted in Perth Underground Station during off-peak travel periods. Passengers with bicycles must use lifts provided (not the escalators) or board and alight at Perth Station.

Fold-up bicycles on Transperth train services

Passengers with fold-up bicycles are permitted to travel at any time on train services as long as the bicycles are contained within a carry bag exceeding no more than 79cm long x 59cm high x 36cm wide.

Bicycles on Transperth bus services

Standard chain driven bicycles and fold up electric scooters are NOT permitted on any Transperth bus services.

Fold up bicycles with small wheels that are belt driven are permitted to be carried free of charge space permitting. Fold up bicycles must be kept out of the aisle. Chainless unicycles are accepted on all Transperth services, space permitting. Chainless unicycles must be kept out of the aisle and not take up a seat that another passenger may use.

Bicycles on Transperth ferry services

Bicycles of any type are permitted on all Transperth ferry services. Both ferries (The Shelley Taylor Smith & The Countess) have space available for bicycles and they are carried free of charge at all times.

Fold up electric scooters are NOT permitted on any Transperth ferry services at all times.
