Registering and hot-listing your SmartRider

Registering standard SmartRiders cards

A standard SmartRider can be registered by calling the Transperth InfoLine on 13 62 13  (TTY: 9428 1999, TIS: 13 14 50) or by completing a SmartRider Registration form at any Transperth InfoCentre or at any authorised SmartRider Retail Sales Outlet. The following information will need to be provided when registering your SmartRider card:

  • Full name
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • SmartRider card number
  • SmartRider password
Registering Concession SmartRider cards

Concession SmartRider cards are automatically registered when the concession application is processed.

Seniors SmartRiders and Student SmartRiders are automatically registered at the time of issue. The password for Seniors SmartRiders and Student SmartRiders is set as the date of birth of the card holder.

If you wish to change your password from your date of birth, please call the InfoLine on 13 62 13 (TTY: 9428 1999, TIS: 13 14 50) to record your new password. This can only be set only as your mother's maiden name, favourite colour or town of birth.

Why register your SmartRider?

A registered SmartRider can be hot-listed, an important safeguard should it be lost or stolen. Hot-listing disables the SmartRider from further use and enables the value on the lost or stolen SmartRider to be transferred to a replacement SmartRider.

A registered card will also provide you with the opportunity to check your transaction history and card balance online at the Transperth website.

To register your SmartRider card online, log into your TravelEasy account and fill in your SmartRider details in the 'My SmartRider' section.

If you do not have a TravelEasy account, click here to create one. You will be prompted to enter your SmartRider card number, date of birth and select a SmartRider password.

Once a SmartRider card has been registered to a person it can not be re-registered in another persons name.

Hot-listing SmartRider cards

To hot-list a lost or stolen SmartRider card, call the Transperth InfoLine on 13 62 13 (TTY: 9428 1999, TIS: 13 14 50) or visit a Transperth InfoCentre.

A hot-listed SmartRider may be used up to 48 hours after the hot-listing has begun. This is due to time delays in data transmissions.

An unregistered SmartRider card cannot be hot-listed.

What does registering my card mean?

A registered SmartRider can be hotlisted, an important safeguard should it be lost or stolen. Hotlisting disables the SmartRider from further use and enables the value on the lost or stolen SmartRider card to be transferred to a replacement SmartRider card.

Concession SmartRider cards are automatically registered when the concession application is processed. Seniors SmartRider and Student SmartRiders are already registered and the SmartRider password is automatically set as the date of birth.

What is a ‘Hot-listed’ card?

If your details are registered with Transperth and you lose your card you can contact Transperth and have the card ‘Hot-listed’. Hot-listing means that the card is deactivated and no one else can use that card. From here, any value or entitlements on the card can then be transferred to another card (allow 24 – 48 hours).

What happens if I lose my unregistered card?

If an unregistered card is lost or stolen it can be found and used by any person. Only registered cards can be ‘Hot-listed’ and have the balance transferred to a replacement card.
