Car parking at Transperth bus stations and interchanges

Whilst a reasonable level of car parking is provided at our facilities, Transperth puts a lot of effort into providing a fully integrated public transport network. This means that where there is demand, bus services will connect to major train stations and interchanges to provide a one-stop connecting journey.

In many cases, if your connecting bus is in the same zone you can will not have to pay additional fares. And as long as your ticket is valid, you can use the same ticket to transfer to other bus, train or ferry services.

New Pay 'n' Display ticket machines

Transperth has introduced car parking ticket machines at Pay ‘n’ Display car parks at train stations.

These upgraded machines will allow you to use your SmartRider card to pay for your all day parking. By using your SmartRider card, you won’t need to worry about carrying spare change to pay for your parking. Coins will still be accepted by these machines.

How do I use my SmartRider to pay for my parking ticket?

Car parking tickets are available from parking ticket machines located in the car park outside the station. Follow these simple steps to pay for your parking ticket with your SmartRider card.

Press the yellow button to activate the SmartRider reader. The machine will prompt you to present your SmartRider card.
Place your SmartRider card on the SmartRider target above the ticket dispenser.
A parking ticket will be automatically issued.
Place your parking ticket, correct side up, on your vehicle’s dashboard.

Using your SmartRider card to pay for your parking ticket is not registered as a Tag On, so there is no need to Tag Off at the parking machine.

However, you are still required to use your SmartRider to Tag On and Tag Off your bus or train service as normal. The $2.00 parking fee will be deducted from your SmartRider card on the following day (please note, the SmartRider 15% or 25% discount does not apply to the parking fee).

You must Tag On a Transperth bus or train service the same day you use your SmartRider card to pay for your parking ticket.

Failure to Tag On a Transperth service will prevent you from using your SmartRider to pay for your parking ticket the next time you use the Pay ‘n’ Display.

In the event of this happening, Tag On a Transperth bus or train service to re-activate your SmartRider. You will then be able to use your SmartRider for parking the following day. The ability to Tag On and Tag Off bus and train services will not be affected during this time.

Pay ‘n’ Display car parks are fenced car parks and patrolled by attendants between 7.00am and 9.00pm Monday to Friday, excluding Public Holidays. A flat fee of $2.00 applies whether you are parked the whole day or part thereof. A valid parking ticket must be displayed, correct side up, on the vehicles dashboard at all times.

Limited free parking is available at most stations or side streets adjacent to stations.Passengers should pay attention to signage around the parking facility to avoid an infringement notice.

If you're a regular user of Park 'n' Ride facilities you might find that parking is at a premium, especially during the peak hours.

Much of the car park is full before 8.30am, which results in many commuters parking illegally, only to return to their vehicle later in the day to discover an infringement notice on their windscreen.

You can avoid the parking hassles and associated infringements by taking advantage of Transperth's regular connecting bus services either directly into the city or to the interchanges to connect with the high frequency train services. So, use the bus to catch the train and use the same valid bus ticket to transfer between services.
