Families using Transperth

To help Perth families get around, Transperth has undertaken a number of initiatives to make travelling on Transperth safe, cost effective and appealing.

Family tickets

One of the ways we encourage families to use Transperth is with a specially priced FamilyRider ticket. This ticket lets a group of up to seven passengers (a maximum of two can be full priced fares) travel all day for $8.40. This gives families greater savings over normal cash tickets, although a few conditions apply. The ticket is valid anytime on Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays, or after 9.00am weekdays during school holidays, or after 6:00pm Monday to Thursday and after 3.00pm Friday.

FamilyRider is only available as a cash ticket. It can be purchased from 8.30am within zones 5-8 and from 9.00am within zones 1-4 on the day of travel.

Kids under 5 travel for free!

Children under the age of 5 can travel for free when accompanied by someone aged 15 years or older.

Prams can be easily accommodated on all Transperth trains, ferries, CAT buses and our new green and silver Mercedes fleet.

All of Transperth's new bus fleet are fully accessible with extendable ramps and a kneeling action to make boarding easy. Each bus has dedicated pram and wheelchair areas.

To find out which routes are serviced by dedicated accessible buses, please refer to the accessibility brochure, the accessible bus facilities page or contact the Transperth InfoLine on 13 62 13 (TTY: 9428 1999,            TIS: 13 14 50). Click here for the Transperth InfoLine operating hours.

Please note that our older buses do not have special access for prams. Prams must be folded and carried on to these buses, especially at peak times when the buses are heavily congested. Please note aisleways and doors must be kept clear at all times.
