Customer Service Assistants
Customer Service Assistants man most major train stations during the day, and travel on trains from station to station. Their responsibilities include assisting customers with enquiries and monitoring the trains and stations for cleanliness and safety.
Transperth Inspectors
Transperth inspectors travel on the bus and ferry network to:
- Provide passenger assistance.
- Ensure that high standards of service are provided to passengers.
- Monitor that passengers comply with ticketing requirements.
All inspectors are empowered under the PTA Act and Regulations 2003 to issue infringements for fare evasion or any other actions which contravene the regulations. This includes: smoking on platforms, consuming food and drink and any inappropriate behaviour.
Passenger Ticketing Assistants
Passenger Ticketing Assistants man major train stations during the day. Their responsibilities include checking passenger tickets and assisting with customer enquiries.
Transit Officers
Transit Officers patrol every Transperth train from the first service to the last. They are specially trained to deal with safety, security and ticketing issues, and also provide a customer contact point for any passenger queries or assistance.
Transit Officers have the powers of arrest and can take the full details of offenders and place them into custody. They can search offenders in custody and have the power to use any force that is reasonably necessary to remove an offender who has been warned but has not complied with a direction.

Transit Officers play a vital role in this promise and their presence will ensure that anyone who spoils another person's journey will be apprehended and presented with an on the spot infringement, and, for more serious offences, arrested and dealt with through the criminal justice system.
