All of our train carriages are accessible. Our newer six carriage trains, introduced in 2004, feature an open plan design, improved closed circuit security cameras, passenger information displays and wheelchair access.

If you are a train passenger who requires assistance to board or alight from suburban trains you may use the 'Telephone for Assistance' booking service. To organise assistance call 1800 800 022 (please allow at least 60 minutes before you require this service).

When you call this number be prepared to give the operator the full details of your proposed journey. You will need to supply the following:

Departure time
Departure point
Destination arrival time
Any return details
Contact telephone numbers
Your name

These details will allow a Customer Service Assistant (CSA) to be positioned at your boarding station, destination and transfer point if required. Please arrange to be at the station at least 5 minutes prior to the train's timetabled departure time so that the CSA can assist you.

Buses

Over 50 percent of the Transperth bus fleet is accessible.

Transperth's accessible buses

Transperth's new fleet of buses provide Perth's public transport system with some of the most modern bus technology in Australia. The purpose-built buses cater for the needs of all people, and include innovative design features including:

Low-floor design provides easy access for all passengers, including seniors, people with disabilities, parents with prams and passengers carrying heavy or awkward loads.
Automatic ramps and kerbside "kneeling" bring the floor closer to ground level and reduces the angle between floor and kerb to improve wheelchair and pram access.
Strategically located handrails, bus stop button and ticketing equipment height assist the mobility of frail passengers or those with a disability.
Provision for two wheelchairs "Priority Seating" areas.
Larger, more prominent destination signs on the exterior of the buses to provide better visibility in order to hail the bus.
Colour contrasting to the bus interior assists people with vision disabilities to distinguish steps, aisles and the wheelchair area.
A special button in the priority seating area to enable those with limited upper body strength to signal when it is their stop.
A driver communication device has also been included in the priority seating area where two-way communication between the driver and the passengers can take place.
Skid-resistant flooring in the wheelchair bays designed to reduce the movement of wheelchairs while the bus is in motion.
