Getting started
1. Purchase your SmartRider
SmartRider cards have an initial purchase fee of $10 for standard and $5 for concession cards. They can be purchased at any Transperth InfoCentre or authorised SmartRider Retail Sales Outlet. Click here for a list of authorised SmartRider Retail Sales Outlets .
WA Seniors Card Holders and some students may be exempt from the initial card purchase fee.
2. Add value to your SmartRider card
Once you have purchased your SmartRider you will need to add value to it. A minimum of $10 must be added to your SmartRider card to allow you to use Transperth services. Click here for learn about adding value to your SmartRider.
3. Register your SmartRider card (optional)
Register your card by either phoning the Transperth InfoLine or by completing a SmartRider registration form. Student and Seniors SmartRiders are automatically registered, as are Concession and SmartRiders with AutoLoad. If a registered card is lost or stolen, the value on it is protected and can be transferred to a replacement SmartRider card. Click here to learn about registering and hot-listing your SmartRider.
4. Begin using your SmartRider card on Transperth services
When you want to travel on Transperth services you simply tag on at the beginning of your journey and tag off at the end of your journey and any transfers in between. Click here to learn about tag on and tag off.
