The Thornlie-Cockburn Line is opening soon!

The Thornlie-Cockburn Line provides more transport options for Perth’s south-eastern suburbs. 

With new connections to Stadium Station, Perth Station and a cross link from east to west, there’s never been a better time to travel in Perth. Whether you’re heading to work or uni, an event or out to meet friends and family we’ve got your travel covered.

Stations along the line include new stations at Nicholson Road and Ranford Road and upgraded stations at Thornlie and Cockburn Central.

Thornlie-Cockburn Line

Thornlie-Cockburn Line train services operate: 

  • Every 15 minutes during peak times
  • Every 15 minutes during the day 
  • Every 30 minutes during the night.

Bus Services

A new bus network has been introduced to efficiently connect surrounding suburbs to the train stations and improve connections through Perth’s south-eastern suburbs. 

The network includes changes to existing routes. While bus stop signage is being updated, information may be missing for short periods. During this time, please use the QR code on the stop or call the InfoLine on 13 62 13.

Nicholson Road Station

Nicholson Road Station is located between Thornlie and Ranford Road stations and is approximately 27-minutes from the Perth CBD. 

At Nicholson Road Station there are:

  • Approximately 1000 car parking bays
  • Secure parking for bikes
  • Accessible toilets
  • 8 new bus routes to the station.

The following bus routes operate to Nicholson Road Station: 

  • Route 201 to Bull Creek Station every 15 mins during peak
  • Route 204 to Ranford Road Station every 30 mins during peak
  • Route 205 to Murdoch Station every 15 mins during peak
  • Route 206 to Murdoch University every 15 mins during peak
  • Route 207 to Murdoch University and Cannington Station every 10 mins during peak
  • Route 210 to Maddington Station every 15 mins during peak
  • Route 212 to Thornlie Station with limited weekday trips
  • Route 213 to Thornlie Station every 15 mins during peak.

Ranford Road Station

Ranford Road Station is located between Nicholson Road and Cockburn Central stations and is approximately 31-minutes from the Perth CBD. 

At Ranford Road Station there are: 

  • Approximately 400 car parking bays
  • Secure parking for bikes
  • Accessible toilets
  • 8 new bus routes to the station.

The following bus routes operate at Ranford Road Station:

  • Route 204 to Nicholson Road Station every 30 mins during peak
  • Route 206 to Murdoch University and Nicholson Road Station every 15 mins during peak
  • Route 207 to Murdoch University and Cannington Station every 10 mins during peak
  • Route 208 to Murdoch University and Cannington Station every 10 mins during peak
  • Route 209 to Murdoch TAFE and Maddington Station every 15 mins in peak
  • Route 517 to Murdoch TAFE and Thornlie Station every 15 mins during peak
  • Route 518 to Murdoch TAFE and Cockburn Central Station every 15 mins during peak
  • Route 519 to Murdoch TAFE and Armadale Station every 15 mins during peak.

Travelling with Transperth

New to travelling on our services? Here are some things you’ll need to know.

Ticketing
 

Transperth's two-zone fare cap means that you'll never pay more than a two-zone fare no matter how far you travel. You can use a SmartRider or buy a cash ticket* and both can be used across all Transperth train, bus and ferry services. 

SmartRiders

SmartRider is a reusable smart card which can save you up to 20% off your fare**. They are available to buy at Transperth InfoCentresretail sales outlets and SmartRider Hubs.

SmartRider Hubs have been installed at Nicholson Road, Ranford Road and Thornlie stations. SmartRiders are $10 each and you will need to load a minimum of $10 onto the card during the purchase. 

Cash Tickets

These can be purchased onboard buses or from ticket machines at train stations and ferry jetties. 

Every Sunday Free

Every Sunday, travel is free for all SmartRider holders. You will need to tag on and off with your SmartRider but you will not be charged a fare.

Free travel is available on all Transperth bus, train and ferry trips from first service until last service.

Please note that the free travel does not apply to late night services after midnight on Saturday and if you are travelling without a SmartRider then you will need to purchase a cash ticket.

*Please note no change will be given if you pay with cash onboard a Transperth bus. If you must pay with cash, then please pay with the exact money. To find out how much your fare will be please plan your journey on the Transperth JourneyPlanner or visit Transperth fares.

Parking
 

If you are driving to the station you can park for just $2 a day*, Monday – Friday using our SmartParker system. Your ticket is valid for up to 24 hours and parking is free on weekends and public holidays. Visit Parking for more information about SmartParker.
