Plan Before You Party

Take a break from driving. Begin your night with Transperth.

Perth is now alive with new options, so stay, enjoy the energy and get home safely and easily with Transperth.

Free late-night trains run on all lines* on Friday and Saturday nights (technically Saturday and Sunday mornings) and the best part is if you catch any train between 12.30am and 3am on the weekend, they’re free.

Check the timetable for the full list of departure times, and remember to always plan your journey before you travel. If in doubt, the free late-night trains from the city are as follows:

Joondalup and Mandurah lines
Departs Perth Underground at 1.15am and 2.15am

Fremantle, Midland and Armadale lines
Departs Perth Station at 1am and 2.15am

We recommend booking a taxi or organising a lift home from the station as there are no connecting buses to meet late night train services.

*Please note the last train to Thornlie departs Perth Station at 11.47pm on Friday and Saturday nights. These services are not free so you’ll need to buy a ticket or tag on with your SmartRider. If you’re leaving from the city after midnight, you’ll need to book a taxi or organise a lift home from Cannington Station.

If you’re on a Transperth bus after 7pm, you can be dropped off anywhere along the route, provided you aren't in the CBD and it is safe for the driver to stop.

Taxis and rideshare

It’s a busy time of year so booking ahead can save you wait time and ensure you arrive at your function on time. The major taxi companies will take bookings online or over the phone – some even have apps. If your friends are travelling in the same direction, share a ride to save time and money.

Private charter

Planning something special?  Hire a tour or charter vehicle. Tour and charter vehicles provide a guaranteed pre-booked transport option and are a great way to travel in style to that special occasion. Some companies provide mini-buses that provide an economical transport option for large groups.

Travel safe

The safest way to travel is to plan your journey. Stay with friends where possible, be aware of your surroundings, stay in well-lit and populated areas, and tell someone when you’re leaving the party. Also, be nice to drivers – they’re working hard to make sure you get home.
