As part of the New Midland Station project, essential works are being carried out on Midland Station’s temporary regional platform and track, including the installation of new turnouts. As a result, a shutdown will be in place between Bassendean and Midland from the

evening of Thursday 24 until last service on Sunday 27 October.

During the shutdown, train replacement buses are operating. Train replacement buses will terminate at Bassendean Station so passengers will need to transfer to a train between Bassendean and Perth.

The last full line services on Thursday 24 / Friday 25 October will depart:

  • Perth to Midland: 8.45pm
  • Midland to Perth: 9.30pm
  • Perth to High Wycombe: 11.47pm *
  • High Wycombe to Perth: 12.18am.

* An additional part line service will depart Perth at 12.02am on Friday 25 October to Bassendean Station.

Full train services will resume from the start of timetabled services on Monday 28 October.

Train Replacement buses

During the Shutdown, train replacement bus Route 901 will operate between Bassendean and Midland.

Since buses operate on roads instead of dedicated tracks, they take longer and are affected by traffic. During the shutdown, we suggest that passengers allow extra travel time.

Using train replacement buses

The train replacement bus stops are recognisable by the red and white decals with “Train Replacement” marked on the stop. It is also important to note that regular timetabled services may not connect with train replacement services.

If you are unsure about where the train replacement stop is at your station, you can check our Station Access Maps or speak to one of our friendly staff.

Bikes and Scooters

Due to restricted space, bicycles are not permitted on Transperth buses, including train replacement services.

Manual scooters are permitted on bus services at any time. They are defined as those that are powered by foot, are manual and are not propelled by a motor.

Motorised scooters are not permitted on bus services unless they are folded up and placed in an appropriately designed, fit for purpose carry bag. They are defined as powered by an electric motor, not fuel or other combustible liquids.

Please note that d
uring peak times, PTA staff have the discretion to restrict passengers with an e-scooter travelling if they identify any safety concerns such as overcrowding. The PTA advises passengers using e-scooters to avoid planning their journey in the peak flow direction during peak hours to minimise potential delays.

Accessible bays will be repositioned within the train replacement departure area. Please show your ACROD permit to traffic controllers to access these bays.
