As part of METRONET's Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal project, critical rail signalling, overhead line equipment (OLE), communications and track works are being carried out on the Armadale/Thornlie Line. These works are within the rail corridor between Great Eastern Hwy and Miller St to prepare for elevated rail operation, impacting train services between Victoria Park and Perth stations.

As a result, a Shutdown will be in place between Perth and Victoria Park from the evening of Tuesday 10 until last service on Saturday 14 December.

During the Shutdown, train replacement buses will operate between Perth and Victoria Park. Normal replacement services will also continue to run between Victoria Park and Armadale.

The last full line services on Tuesday 10 December will depart:

  • Perth to Victoria Park: 8.02pm
  • Victoria Park to Perth: 8.17pm.

Train services between Perth and Victoria Park will resume from the start of timetabled services on Sunday 15 December.

Train Replacement buses

During the Shutdown, train replacement bus Route 905 will run between Perth and Victoria Park stations.

Buses from Perth will depart Stand 2 on Wellington St outside Perth Station. They will also depart Perth Busport after 7.00pm on weeknights and all day/night on Saturday. Buses from Victoria Park Station will depart Stand 3 on Kitchener St, north of the station. Passengers travelling further than Victoria Park can transfer to Route 908.

Since buses operate on roads instead of dedicated tracks, they take longer and are affected by traffic. During the Shutdown, we suggest that passengers allow extra travel time.

FAQ

Do I still need to pay a fare during the disruption?

Yes, normal ticketing applies and passengers will need to tag on and off when travelling on train replacement buses.

If you pay with cash onboard a Transperth train replacement bus, please note that no change will be given. If you must pay with cash, then please pay with the exact money. To find out how much your fare will be, please plan your journey on the Transperth JourneyPlanner or visit Transperth fares.

Can I take my bicycle or scooter on train replacement services?

Due to restricted space, bicycles are not permitted on Transperth buses, including train replacement services.

Manual scooters are permitted on bus services at any time. They are defined as those that are powered by foot, are manual and are not propelled by a motor.

Motorised scooters are not permitted on bus services unless they are folded up and placed in an appropriately designed, fit for purpose carry bag. They are defined as powered by an electric motor, not fuel or other combustible liquids.

Please note that during peak times, PTA staff have the discretion to restrict passengers with an e-scooter travelling if they identify any safety concerns such as overcrowding. The PTA advises passengers using e-scooters to avoid planning their journey in the peak flow direction during peak hours to minimise potential delays.
