Why do this course?
Public transport can help everyone connect with community and be independent. Whilst accessibility across the Transperth network is improving, not all stations and bus stops are the same. Careful planning is required when working with people with diverse needs on the Transperth network.
- Learn how you can support people with diverse needs to use public transport
- Help meet your NDIS requirements to provide supports in a safe and competent manner
Course Outline
Transperth Mentor Training is a free e-learning package for service providers in the disability, aged and community sectors. The course is designed to increase knowledge and skills of workers (‘Companions’) who support people with diverse needs to use public transport.
By the end of the course, learners will have a practical working knowledge of Transperth’s accessible network and know how to prepare safe and accessible journeys when working with a participant (‘Buddy’).
The course is designed to be flexible, self-paced and can be undertaken individually or ‘side-by-side’ with a client/participant.
Learners can ‘pick and choose’ resources based on need or complete the course ‘start to finish’ and be awarded with a Certificate on successful completion.
Who should attend?
