Introducing your new Midland Station 

The new Midland Station will open on Sunday 22 February - it's closer to the heart of Midland Town Centre and offers access to connecting services for wherever you're headed.

  • First trains from Perth Station to Midland Station depart at 9.11am 
  • First trains from Midland Station to Perth Station depart at 9.24am 

What's new?

The new station features a contemporary modern design inspired by local Noongar Culture and landscape, set against the industrial backdrop of the Midland Railway Workshops. 

The new precinct, located between Helena and Cale Streets offers:

  • Modern facilities replacing the old station building 
  • Safe, easy conncetions with new public spaces and a pedestrian overpass
  • 12-stand bus interchange for seamless transfers with the wider network
  • Multi-storey car park with over 800 bays, including 20 ACROD bays and 10 motorcycle bays
  • A new level crossing at Cale Street
  • 1km shared path inking to the existing cycle network at Morrison Road and Llyod Street.

Travelling with Transperth 

New to travelling on our services? Here are some things you'll need to know. 

Ticketing

With the Go Anywhere Fare your fare is capped at no more than $3.50 no matter how far you travel. You can use a SmartRider, contactless payments or buy a cash ticket*.  All three methods can be used across all Transperth train, bus and ferry services. 

SmartRiders

SmartRider is a reusable smart card which can save you up to 20% off your fare**. They are available to buy at Transperth InfoCentres, retail sales outlets and SmartRider Hubs.

SmartRider Hubs have been installed at Nicholson Road, Ranford Road and Thornlie stations. SmartRiders are $10 each and you will need to load a minimum of $10 onto the card during the purchase. 

Contactless Payments

Use your Visa or Mastercard or pay seamlessly with your digital wallet.

Cash Tickets

These can be purchased onboard buses or from ticket machines at train stations and ferry jetties. 

Every Sunday Free

Every Sunday, travel is free for all travellers using SmartRider or contactless payments. You will need to tag on and off with your SmartRider but you will not be charged a fare.

Free travel is available on all Transperth bus, train and ferry trips from first service until last service.

Please note that the free travel does not apply to late night services after midnight on Saturday and if you are travelling without a SmartRider or using contactless payments then you will need to purchase a cash ticket.

*Please note no change will be given if you pay with cash onboard a Transperth bus. If you must pay with cash, then please pay with the exact money. To find out how much your fare will be please plan your journey on the Transperth JourneyPlanner or visit Transperth fares.

Parking
 
If you are driving to the station you can park for just $2 a day*, Monday – Friday using our SmartParker system. Your ticket is valid for up to 24 hours and parking is free on weekends and public holidays. Visit Parking for more information about SmartParker.

Included travel for events

Some event organisers and venues include Transperth travel to and from the event in their ticket price. In some cases, event organisers may also arrange for us to provide additional bus or train services for people attending the event.

If you are going to an event, please check the travel options and plan your journey in advance to avoid inconvenience on the day. If your event is joint ticketed, you are entitled to travel on any Transperth service for three hours before, during and three hours after the event, or until end of service, whichever occurs first.

Please note paid parking has been extended to include all parking bays at Transperth train stations. This means when you park at a Transperth train station it will cost you $2 a day, or for any part of, between 5am and 9pm on weekdays. If your event is joint ticketed and you plan to park at a train station, you will need to use the Pay 'n' Display option to pay for parking. See Paid Parking for more information.
