Autoload enables a direct debit to be made automatically from a nominated bank account or credit card to your SmartRider card account when the balance on your card falls below the low-value threshold of $6 (standard users) and $3 (concession users). Once Autoload is activated you will begin receiving the 20% discount.
When the value on your SmartRider goes below the low-value threshold amount, your SmartRider will automatically reload. After the funds have been added to your SmartRider we will withdraw the amount from your bank account or credit card. Deductions normally occur within 48 hours.
The Autoload amount that you nominate can be no less than $20 and no more than $250.
Transperth recommends that the nominated Autoload amount should allow at least 10 days travel this will overcome the need for frequent Autoload transactions.
The first Autoload transfer will only occur when the value on your SmartRider reaches the relevant low-value threshold amount. However, the activation of your 20% Autoload discount occurs as soon as your application is processed.
When Autoload is active and you choose to add value to your card using another reload method, the 20% discount will be removed and you will receive the 10% discount. The 10% discount will apply until the low-value threshold is reached and Autoload adds value to your card, the 20% discount will then reactivate.
When you activate Autoload it is your responsibility to ensure the account or card details are correct and you have sufficient funds to cover your travel. Failure to do so may result in Autoload being permanently disabled for your card.
For best results when activating your Autoload you should:
- Activate Autoload within five days of the last time you tagged on/off
- Once activated wait 24 hours
- Within the next five days make sure to tag your SmartRider on/off. Please note you will need to have enough value on your SmartRider to tag on (minimum-two section fare).
Your Autoload will then activate and be available on your SmartRider.
If you activate Autoload and havent used your card recently you will need to wait 24 hours and then tag your SmartRider on/off on three different days within a week.
Students and Seniors
In addition to the above you will need to ensure that you have value on your card.
If you haven’t added value to your card previously you will need to do so using an in person method by:
- Visiting a Retail Sales Outlet or InfoCentres
- Using an Add Value Machine
- On board a bus (cash only).
Do not add value using Bpay, this method will not assist in activating Autoload on your SmartRider.
