Don’t have enough money on your SmartRider for another journey? Then it’s time to add value to your card. There are several different ways you can do this. If you set up Autoload, you’ll never run out of balance and you’ll receive a 20% discount off of most fares.
* If you choose to add value using any other method after activating Autoload, you will no longer receive the 20% discount. You will receive the 10% discount until your card reaches the low value threshold and value is added via Autoload.
We recommend that the Autoload amount should allow for at least 10 days of travel so there won't be a need for frequent Autoload transactions.
*You must present your card to a SmartRider tag on device within two weeks of making a BPAY payment or if you are expecting an Autoload activation, concession update or reimbursement.
**Passengers using BPAY should note that it may take up to five working days to transfer funds using BPAY. Your SmartRider will not be in credit until such time that money is actually transferred.
**You will not see the amount you have transferred on your SmartRider balance until after you next tag on.

Students and Seniors
If you haven’t added value to your card previously you will need to do so using an in person method by:
- Visiting a Retail Sales Outlet or InfoCentre
- Using an Add Value Machine
- On board a bus (cash only).
Do not add value using Bpay, this method will not assist in adding initial funds on your SmartRider.
