If you are a Wholly Dependent Partner, War Widow or War Widower who doesn’t receive the Income Support Supplement (ISS) you are eligible for a Veterans SmartRider card for concession travel.
As part of the application process, we need your consent to check with Centrelink or the Department of Veterans Affairs about your eligibility for a Veterans SmartRider. Once we have your consent, we can automatically confirm your eligibility every year.
Veterans Companion SmartRider
Veterans who require a companion when travelling on public transport, as assessed by the Department of Veterans Affairs, are eligible for a Veterans Companion SmartRider.
This card provides the same travel benefits as the standard Veterans SmartRider, offering free travel on all Transperth services and includes a companion travel entitlement, allowing a single companion to travel free when accompanying the Veteran.
To apply, Veterans must provide proof of their need for a companion issued by the Department of Veterans in the form of a letter from the department or an Advice of Attendant Care notice, along with their completed Application for a Veterans SmartRider form.
Veterans with an existing Veteran SmartRider can submit their proof of entitlement to request a replacement card with companion entitlement.
